Tooth Fairy Traditions

A friend's daughter lost her first tooth yesterday and I got all giddy talking to her about how to make the most of the tooth fairy's appearance.  Thought I would share those ideas with you.

  • Make sure you have a tooth fairy pillow ready for your child....  And make sure that they know they have to leave it on the side of the bed closest to the window so that the "tooth fairy" can get to it easily!
  • Our tooth fairy leaves gold glitter where she flies from the window to the pillow!  Sometimes she leaves a little extra on the bed while she is hovering to collect the tooth.  My kids are especially excited when a little of the tooth fairy dust gets in their hair!

  • Sometimes my kids like to leave a note for the Tooth Fairy asking if they can keep their tooth.  When this happens, the Tooth Fairy usually writes back in special gold lettering and font and her paper has this funny edge around it that looks like it has been antiqued!!!  (a little match burning the paper, perhaps? )
  • Our Tooth Fairy also has special money for the kids!  Some fun gold dollar coins and even a two dollar bill once in a while.

  • Our neighbors across the street have really special tooth fairies that visit and each child has their own tooth fairy with a special name that visits!
  • Next time we lose a tooth I think we will stay up and get a picture of the tooth fairy visiting our house.  I think we can get some help for that at this website!
  • This website has lots of Frequently Asked Questions that your kids might have for the Tooth Fairy.   They also sell t-shirt and other fun tooth fairy materials!
  • Whatever you do,  have fun with it as it is a special time that really doesn't last very long.  I'm afraid some kiddos in my house already have their suspicions!
